Product Catalog Overview

Every design must use the corresponding product template file: Use the sweater template file for designing a sweater, Use the blanket template file for a blanket, use the pillow template file for pillow.

Template Layers

Even though these templates are different, all of them share some common characteristics, and each of the file templates contains already prepared layers with clipping masks for your convenience.

Sweater template example

1. Art Layer (placeholder layer) This is where all of your art and designs go. Art Layers can use up to 4 colors total, selected from a palette of 36 available colors.
2. Color Chip Layer “Trim” This layer marks the rib trims for this the style (collars, cuffs and hems). For technical reasons, it can contain only one color, chosen from the 4 colors you use in your Art Layers. By default it is using an invalid color, to change it click on the color chip layer icon and select a color from the Knitwise Swatches palette. Do not add any layers above this layer.
3. Layer “Factory layer” This layer always has to be overlaid over finished art, so it is placed on top of everything else in the template. It contains various data and information for the knitting machine operators. You can also refer to it for orientation. Make sure this layer is visible when exporting your files. Do not modify this layer or add any layers above it.
