Since we’re designing with yarn, we can only use colors that are available in the factory. There are a total of 36 available yarn colors, each represented by one color swatch.
Let’s first import the predefined swatches. Download the color swatch file and save on your computer.
download the supplied “knitwise.aco” file. In Photoshop, make sure you have at least one document open.
Open the Swatches panel menu, select “Import Swatches” and go to the folder where you downloaded the Swatches file. Doubleclick on the file to import it. The newly imported Swatches will appear in your Swatches panel.

Depending on your setup, you can also try and simply double-click on the aco file and Photoshop will automatically open it.
You can also install various specialized Photoshop brushes that can be useful when making art for jacquard designs. This is optional, but recommended, especially if you’re designing blankets or pillow cases. To install the brushes, download the attached file and install it following the instructions from the video.
Please use the pencil tool with 100% opacity when using these brushes
